LOST AND FOUND ADVICE
Sadly pets can sometimes go missing and to try and ensure that this doesnt happen, our advice is:
NEUTERING: A neutered animal is less likely to wander, or be involved in road traffic accidents, or injured in fights with other animals. Please get your animal neutered/Speyed. If you are on certain benefits or low income, there are charities that can help you with the costs of this. Ask your Vet for details and they can advise if you qualify.
Sadly we cannot help as we are a small charity and do not have the funds available.
KEEP YOUR CAT IN AT NIGHT: Around 80% of cats that go missing do so at night. They are also more likely to be hit by cars, and stolen during the hours of darkness.
MICRO-CHIPPING: This an easy and effective way of identifying your pet. Should the animal go missing and be found, it can be traced back to you by way of a vet scanning its microchip for your details. Getting your pet chipped is a very simple, painless procedure. It is not very expensive and may ensure that your pet is returned to you much sooner. Collars with an ID tag do help, but these can come off or be removed.
MISSING PETS ADVICE: Has your pet gone missing? Below is some advice which may help you to find them:-
* First, thoroughly search your home (especially warm places such as under beds, airing cupboards, etc - in winter), and any outbuildings such as sheds and garages.
* Ask your neighbours to check their outbuildings too. Your pet may have accidentally been shut in.
* If you do not find your pet, try calling local vet surgeries in and around your area, as if the animal has been injured it may have been handed in to one of them.
* Contact Animal rescues and the local council to see if anyone has handed your pet into them.
* Put Up posters and distribute flyers locally - When putting up a poster try and include a photo on it, and possibly offer a reward as it could encourage more response.
Try placing an advert in the local paper.
It is very distressing when a pet goes missing but dont give up hope!
